Vacuum Former Training Session

In this class students will learn how to use the Formech 508FS vacuum former. This takes thin sheets of plastic, softens them, and uses a vacuum to pull them over a three-dimensional “buck” or mold. Forming area is 19”x17”, depth of draw is 11”; materials are typically polystyrene or ABS. Tips and tricks regarding programming the different heating zones to accommodate different depths of draw, drilling holes in the buck to improve vacuum flow, concerns regarding undercut/overhang, and more will be discussed. Creation of different bucks from CNC routing, CNC milling, laser cutting or 3D printing will be discussed.
