Kansas City, MO— Central Indiana residents of all ages are encouraged to build their team and apply for the Make48 competition, hosted by the 16 Tech Innovation District September 23-25. Sponsored by Eli Lilly and Company, Make48 will ask teams to compete to find solutions around the theme of Empowering Health@Home.
Make48 is a nationwide, invention-competition docuseries that gives teams a challenge at the start of a two-day event. With just 48 hours, teams must create a prototype, promotional video and a sales sheet and present their idea to a panel of judges. The teams have access to a makerspace and tool techs that can make almost anything, allowing everyone to have a level playing field and the chance to win.
Eight teams from the central Indiana area will be chosen to compete at 16 Tech’s new makerspace, Machyne, a community-oriented makerspace with classic tools and high-tech equipment. The winning team from the event will advance to compete at the Nationals competition for a chance to win $10K, slated for March 2022.
Teams from all backgrounds, ages and skill levels with an interest in innovation and invention are encouraged to apply. No building experience necessary. In the spirit of competition and innovation, Make48 encourages everyone who has good ideas to apply. The application is simple thus lowering the barriers and giving the opportunity for all to compete.
Applications are available online at make48.com/indianapolis and close Friday, July 2. Teams will be invited to a casting call at Machyne on July 10 where the competing teams will be selected.
